IGNORANCE IS BLISS: DOOMSCROLLING TERHADAP MENTAL WELL-BEING PENGGUNA INSTAGRAM

Not everything is necessarily worth knowing. This assumption refers to the phrase “ignorance is bliss.” This article examines the influence of social media information on mental health and explores the types of information that contribute to its deterioration. A mixed-methods approach was employed, utilizing a sequential explanatory strategy with Doomscrolling and Mental Well-Being scales as measurement tools. The findings demonstrate a significant effect of doomscrolling behavior on mental well-being. In other words, certain information on social media can negatively impact individuals’ mental health. Such information includes difficulties in job seeking, layoffs, political instability, reports of corruption, poverty, inequality, war, and natural disasters.
Tidak semua hal sebaiknya perlu kita ketahui. Dasar asumsi ini merujuk pada istilah "ignorance is bliss". Artikel ini menguji pengaruh antara informasi di media sosial yang berdampak pada Kesehatan mental serta mengungkap apa saja bentuk informasi yang membuat Kesehatan mental memburuk. menggunakan pendekatan mix method dengan Strategi eksplanatoris sekuensial dengan alat ukur Doomscrolling dan Mental Well-Being. Hasil penelitian membuktikan ada pengaruh antara perilaku Doomscrolling Terhadap Mental Well-Being. Dengan kata lain, ada sebagian informasi di sosial media yang dapat membuat sebagian orang tidak sehat secara mental. Dalam temuan ini beberapa bentuk informasinya seperti fenomena susahnya mencari kerja, pemutusan hubungan kerja, situasi politik, berita pejabat korupsi, kemiskinan, ketimpangan, perang dan bencana.
