The Editorial Board of Jurnal Buana Farma recognizes that plagiarism is an unethical publishing behavior and is therefore unacceptable. The journal establishes the following policy to clearly define plagiarism and outline specific actions (sanctions) to be taken if plagiarism is identified in a manuscript submitted for publication.
Plagiarism is the act of deliberately or unintentionally obtaining or attempting to obtain credit or recognition for a scholarly work by copying part or all of another author’s work or scientific publication and presenting it as one’s own without proper and adequate citation of the original source.
Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Buana Farma must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere. Any materials taken verbally or textually from other sources must be clearly identified and properly cited so that they differ from the author’s own original text.
All manuscripts submitted to the journal are screened for similarity using plagiarism detection software (Turnitin, www.turnitin.com).
The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for reviewing cases of plagiarism and deciding on appropriate actions based on the level of similarity detected, in accordance with the following guidelines:
Minor Plagiarism:
Copying short phrases or sentences from another paper without proper citation.
Action: The author receives a warning and is requested to revise the manuscript and properly cite the sources.
Major Plagiarism:
Copying a significant portion of another paper without quotation marks, citation, or proper acknowledgement of the source.
Action: The submitted manuscript is rejected and the author may be sanctioned from submitting future manuscripts to Jurnal Buana Farma.
All authors listed on a manuscript are equally responsible for the content submitted to Jurnal Buana Farma. If plagiarism is detected in an article, all authors will be subject to the same sanctions.
If a manuscript is found to have been submitted simultaneously to Jurnal Buana Farma and another journal, or to contain overlapping content that violates ethical publication practices, the manuscript will be rejected, and the authors may face publication restrictions as stated in point 3 above.
For cases of plagiarism not covered by the categories above, the Editorial Board reserves the right to take appropriate actions or sanctions as deemed necessary, in line with the journal’s ethical policy and COPE guidelines.
The similarity index is checked prior to peer review using Turnitin with a tolerance threshold of less than 20% (excluding references, quotations, and methodology overlaps).
Manuscripts exceeding this limit will be returned to the author for revision before further processing.
This plagiarism policy is aligned with the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines and the Regulation of the Head of LIPI No. 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications, emphasizing three core ethical values in scholarly publishing:
Neutrality — free from conflicts of interest in publication management,
Justice — providing authorship rights to those entitled, and
Honesty — free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P).
