Integrative-Cultural Approach: The Strategy of Al Huda Islamic Boarding School in Instilling Pancasila Values

This study aims to uncover the cultural-integrative strategies implemented by Al Huda Islamic Boarding School in instilling Pancasila values amidst the challenges of value degradation due to globalization. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document studies within the Al Huda Islamic Boarding School environment. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings reveal three core strategies in instilling Pancasila values. First, integration through value analogies in the teaching of yellow books that connect Islamic teachings with Pancasila values. Second, habituation of values through rituals and daily life activities at the Islamic boarding school. Third, direct role models (uswah hasanah) from kyai and ustadz serve as concrete models for implementing values. The cultural-integrative approach that weaves Pancasila values into the existing cultural network of Islamic boarding schools has proven effective in creating natural, authentic, and sustainable internalization of values. This model offers an alternative to the dominant instructional approach and demonstrates that Islamic boarding schools, with the cultural authority of their kyai (Islamic leaders), can serve as a strategic basis for strengthening Pancasila ideology. These findings have implications for the development of a more contextual and local wisdom-based character education model in Indonesia.
