Abstract

Civics learning at SDN 2 Winong still faces the problem of low concentration and critical reasoning skills of students due to the use of lecture methods and passive visual media. This study aims to describe the application of the Make a Match card media as a strategy to improve focus and critical reasoning skills of elementary school students. The study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of direct observation and semi-structured interviews with class teachers. Data were analyzed using thematic descriptive analysis by grouping the results of observations and interviews into themes related to concentration, engagement, and critical reasoning skills. The results showed that the card matching activity encouraged students to understand information quickly, maintain focus, and increase participation and confidence in discussions. Interaction through pair activities also strengthened students' ability to provide logical reasons. Overall, the Make a Match media proved relevant and effective in creating more active, interactive, and meaningful Civics learning at SDN 2 Winong.
