Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of learning methods outside the classroom (outdoor study) on student learning outcomes in science subjects for fifth grade students of SDN Sirnabaya II. The author uses a quantitative approach with experimental methods. This research was conducted at SDN Sirnabaya II, the sampling used in this study was a purposive sample, the sample used in this study were 50 students of class V SD consisting of two classes of 25 students each, namely 25 students of class VA and 25 students of class VB. There are three stages in this study, namely: pretest, treatment and posttest. Pretest was conducted in both classes to determine student learning outcomes after and before learning. After the pretest was carried out, the researchers gave treatment using the outdoor study method in the experimental class, while in the control class, the researcher used the lecture method (conventional). After being given treatment, the researcher then conducted a posttest in both classes to find out whether using the outdoor study method was better than the conventional lecture method. The study was processed using the formula for normality, homogeneity, t-test, n-gain. The results of the study show that the method of learning outside the classroom (outdoor study) is better than the lecture method (conventional).
