Abstract

This study aims to determine the application and impact of sex education on child
development in sixth grade students at SDN Sukamakmur III. This research is classified into
qualitative research. The resource persons in this study consisted of grade VI students, grade
VI teachers and parents of grade VI students at SDN Sukamakmur III. Data collection
techniques used are interviews, observations and questionnaires. Data analysis in this study
uses data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the
application of sex education to class VI students was carried out in the classroom together
with the subjects, the selection of these subjects was based on aspects of the norms that
existed in cases of child sexual abuse. The application of sex education emphasizes 2
materials, namely, the importance of sex education for early childhood containing sexuality
problems that often occur in children and their impact on children, steps in providing
education to children based on psychosexual and cognitive development in children after an
early age, and the benefits of education. sex in children. The second material is about the
implementation of sex education in learning which involves the cognitive, affective, and
psychomotor domains that are adapted to sex education for children. Regarding the impact of
sex education, in this study there were two impacts, namely the behavioral impact, which was
seen in changes in students' shyness, maintaining genital hygiene and limiting playing
behavior against the opposite sex. The second impact is the impact of theoretical
understanding where based on the results of the questionnaire an average of 75% of students
understand.
