Publication Ethics
The statement of publication ethics applies to all parties involved in the publication process of the TechnoXplore journal, including the publisher, editors, reviewers, and authors. This publication ethics statement is based on the principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), as adopted in the Indonesian Regulation of the Head of LIPI No. 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications.
In essence, the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication upholds three ethical values:
(i) Neutrality — being free from conflicts of interest in managing publications;
(ii) Fairness — granting authorship rights to those who are entitled to it;
(iii) Honesty — ensuring that publications are free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P).
I. Duties and Responsibilities of the Journal Manager
- The TechnoXplore manager determines the journal's name, scientific scope, periodicity, and accreditation if necessary.
- Defines the relationships between the publisher, editor, reviewers, and other relevant parties through a formal contract.
- Ensures the protection of privacy, intellectual property rights, copyright, and editorial freedom.
- Applies regulations and norms regarding intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
- Reviews and communicates journal policies to authors, editorial board members, reviewers, and readers.
- Develops a code of conduct for editors and reviewers.
- Publishes the journal regularly and consistently.
- Ensures the availability of funding to maintain journal sustainability.
- Establishes networks for collaboration and marketing.
II. Duties and Responsibilities of the Journal Editor
- Balances the interests of readers and authors.
- Strives for continuous improvement of the publication's quality.
- Implements processes to guarantee the quality of published manuscripts.
- Upholds the principle of freedom of expression objectively.
- Maintains the integrity of the authors' academic records.
- Issues corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when necessary.
- Is responsible for the journal’s style and format, while the content remains the responsibility of the authors.
- Supports initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics.
- Maintains an open mind towards new or opposing viewpoints.
- Avoids retaining personal, authorial, or third-party biases that could influence editorial decisions.
- Encourages authors to improve their manuscripts to meet publication standards.
- Treats all manuscripts equally regardless of the authors’ race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or political ideology.
- Makes publication decisions based on legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement, duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism.
- Maintains confidentiality of all manuscript-related information and does not use it for personal gain.
- Selects and assigns appropriate reviewers to assess submitted manuscripts.
III. Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Reviewers are assigned by editors to evaluate manuscripts and provide feedback to help determine their suitability for publication.
- Reviewers must conduct objective reviews, supported by clear arguments.
- Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of the authors' information, refrain from disseminating corrections, suggestions, and recommendations, and avoid using the reviewed content for personal gain.
- Encourage authors to improve the quality of their manuscripts.
- Review manuscripts promptly, in accordance with the journal's style and scientific principles (e.g., methods of data collection, author legitimacy, drawing conclusions, etc.).
IV. Duties and Responsibilities of Authors
- Ensure that those listed as authors meet the authorship criteria.
- Acknowledge supervisors if the manuscript is part of a thesis, dissertation, or internship report.
- Include student contributors if the research involved students.
- List all collaborators or team members involved in the research project.
