Abstract

The intense competition in the automotive industry requires companies to improve operational efficiency, particularly in spare parts warehouse management. Disorganized storage and suboptimal implementation of FIFO can hinder productivity and reduce product quality. Therefore, the application of the 5S standard (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke) and the FIFO (First In, First Out) system is an important strategy to create more efficient and effective warehouse management. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving 10 respondents directly engaged in warehouse activities at PT. Buana Indomobil Trada Surabaya. Data were analyzed using NVivo software through coding, categorization, and theme development related to the implementation of 5S and FIFO. The results indicate that 5S improves orderliness, cleanliness, and work efficiency, particularly in the storage and retrieval processes, while FIFO helps maintain product quality, reduces the risk of damage or expiration, and accelerates distribution flow. However, challenges remain in the form of inconsistent employee discipline and limited storage facilities. Consistent integration of 5S and FIFO contributes positively to warehouse management effectiveness, directly enhancing employee productivity and customer satisfaction. The company is advised to strengthen socialization, training, and continuous supervision to ensure optimal implementation of both methods.
